Privacy
PeerSpots is a publisher, not an advertising business. This site sets no cookies, shows no consent banner and builds no profile of you. The only personal information we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you decide to give it to the newsletter.
What we collect
If you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address and the date you gave it. Nothing else. We do not ask for your name.
Everything else this site measures — how many people read a page, roughly where they came from, how quickly the page loaded — is counted without identifying you, and is described under Analytics below.
The newsletter
The subscription field passes your address to EmailOctopus, who run the list. This site is a set of static files and keeps no database of its own, so there is no copy of your address here.
Subscribing is double opt-in. EmailOctopus sends you one confirmation email, and you are not on the list until you follow the link in it. If you never follow it, you are never subscribed and you hear nothing further from us.
The list is stored on EmailOctopus infrastructure in the EU, and they act on our instructions only. We use your address to send the newsletter and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone beyond the processors named below. It stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Analytics
Two, both cookieless, neither of which can tell who you are.
Fathom Analytics counts page views and where they came from. It sets no cookies, does no device fingerprinting, and does not follow you from one site to another. There is no profile of you for us to look at, because none is built.
Cloudflare Web Analytics measures how quickly pages actually load for real visitors. Also no cookies, also no fingerprinting. It is what tells us the site has got slow before you have to.
Neither is an advertising product, and neither has anything to sell. That is the reason this page is a description rather than a box to dismiss.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. As any web server must, Cloudflare handles the technical details of your request — your IP address, your browser, the page you asked for — in order to deliver the page and to keep the site up. That handling is what serving you a page consists of, and Cloudflare does it under its own terms.
Who processes it
Three companies, and only these three:
- EmailOctopus (opens in a new window) — Sends the newsletter and holds the list it is sent to.
- Fathom Analytics (opens in a new window) — Counts page views, without cookies and without identifying anyone.
- Cloudflare (opens in a new window) — Serves this site, and measures how quickly it loads.
There are no advertising networks on this site, no tag managers, no social embeds, no comment widgets and no fonts loaded from anyone else. Nothing on a page you read here is fetched from a company not named above.
Cookies
This site sets none — not for analytics, not for preferences, not for anything. There is nothing to accept or refuse, which is why you were not asked.
Leaving, and your rights
Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is enough. It takes your address off the list.
You can also write to hi@peerspots.com and ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. It is one address and one date, so all three are quick.
Under the GDPR you have the right to see that data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to what we do with it, and to take a copy elsewhere. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Ours is the Portuguese Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (opens in a new window).
Who we are
PeerSpots, Lisbon, Portugal. We are the data controller for this site and for the newsletter. Write to hi@peerspots.com about anything on this page.
If this page changes, the date under the heading changes with it.
